Chasing

Baobabs

On the remote and wild island of Madagascar, an extreme multi-stage trail race forces Lucy to face danger, forge unlikely friendships and finally face the past she’s been running from.

“Why would you choose to run a race by yourself in Madagascar?”
“Why not? I get to see exotic places, meet new people, climb mountains…”

And it’s not a lie. Lucy has come to Madagascar to run an extreme multi-stage race. But she’s also seeking refuge—not in stillness, but in movement—using the race as a means to temporarily numb her fractured past.

Set in the majestic and wild landscapes of Madagascar, the brutal trail race pushes Lucy and a group of unlikely runners to their limits. Together, they must climb jagged mountains, navigate endless rice paddy fields, explore forests where ancient Baobabs stand watch, and traverse vast, desolate beaches.

Yet somewhere between the mountains and the sea, the island’s beauty and the struggle to survive, the race becomes so much more than a five-day challenge. The cost of participation becomes impossible to ignore. Shared struggles turn into connections, and unguarded moments bring revelations. Not everyone is who they seem, and safety is not guaranteed in a place where paradise and danger walk hand in hand.
